President Droupadi Murmu Advocates Unity and Equality at Mahima Cult Meeting in Sambalpur, Odisha

Sambalpur: In a momentous gathering at the Mini Stadium in Sambalpur, Odisha, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the Mahima Cult, emphasizing the timeless teachings of Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi and urging the youth to embrace his ideals.

President Murmu paid her respects to the revered Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi, acknowledging his remarkable contributions to literature despite a lack of formal education. She praised Bhima Bhoi’s unique insights, evident in his enduring verses that continue to resonate across the nation.

The President underscored the relevance of Bhima Bhoi’s works, highlighting the profound reflection of social equality and universal ideals. She encouraged the younger generation to draw inspiration from Bhima Bhoi’s life and teachings.

Mahima Cult, initiated by Mahima Gosein, stood out for its inclusive nature, transcending caste-based discrimination. President Murmu emphasized that Bhima Bhoi devoted himself to fostering societal equality, spreading the philosophy of the Mahima Cult through his compelling speeches, soulful songs, and poignant poems.

“The teachings of Bhima Bhoi are not confined to Odisha; they are timeless and meant for the welfare of humanity. His biography and writings should be translated into various languages and shared not only across India but also globally,” President Murmu declared.

Earlier in the day, the President paid homage to Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi at his birthplace in Rairakhol. She also visited Divya Joyoti and Gyan Peeth at Kandhara, along with the Temple and Ashram of Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi at Kankanapada.

President Droupadi Murmu concluded her address by stating, “The seats of saints are as sacred as places of pilgrimage. Let us follow their ideals and dedicate ourselves to the noble cause of nation-building.” The President’s visit to the revered sites associated with Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi reflects a commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Odisha.
