Prakash Magdum Assumes Charge as Managing Director of NFDC

New Delhi: Prakash Magdum, a seasoned officer of the Indian Information Service (1999 batch), today officially took over as the Managing Director of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).

With a distinguished career in public communication and film heritage management, Magdum brings over two decades of expertise to the role. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Additional Director General of both the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) in Ahmedabad, playing a key role in government media outreach.

One of the highlights of Magdum’s career was his impactful tenure as Director of the National Film Archive of India (NFAI), Pune, where he was instrumental in advancing the National Film Heritage Mission. Under his leadership, the NFAI undertook critical work in the preservation, conservation, digitization, and restoration of India’s rich cinematic legacy.

Shri Magdum has also held the position of Registrar at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and served as Spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence in Thiruvananthapuram, showcasing his diverse portfolio of administrative and strategic communication roles.
