Bhubaneswar/Berhampur: Electricity supply has been restored in Aska urban area of Ganjam district following extensive flooding caused by Cyclone Arnab and subsequent heavy rainfall. Restoration teams worked round the clock to repair damaged electrical infrastructure and bring the power distribution network back to normal despite difficult ground conditions.
Several neighbourhoods, market areas and commercial establishments in Aska were affected by severe waterlogging. Inundated locations, accumulated mud and debris, along with damage to electrical infrastructure, hampered restoration efforts. Personnel carried out repair work across affected areas while following prescribed safety protocols.
To strengthen restoration operations across its eight-district service area, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) deployed around 6,500 personnel across southern Odisha. The teams comprised senior officials, engineers, employees and skilled and unskilled project workers.
The restoration drive was supported by around 400 vehicles, six mobile distribution substations and 16 transit stores to ensure the timely movement of personnel, equipment and materials to affected locations.
Dedicated teams were deployed across divisions to assess damage, undertake repairs and progressively restore electricity supply in the affected areas. The restoration of power in Aska marks a step towards bringing essential services back to normal following the cyclone-induced flooding.
