PM Modi Unveils Transformative Development Projects Worth Over Rs 19,600 Crores in Odisha

Chandikhole: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated multiple development projects worth over Rs 19,600 crores in Chandikhole, Odisha. These projects span diverse sectors, including oil & gas, railways, road, transport & highways, and atomic energy.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the blessings of Lord Jagannath and Maa Birja, emphasizing that the new stream of development inaugurated today would usher in prosperity for Jajpur and Odisha. On the occasion of Biju Patnaik’s Jayanti, PM Modi remembered his unparalleled contribution to the nation and Odisha.

The inauguration and foundation stone laying of mega development projects totaling about Rs 20,000 crores were highlighted by the Prime Minister. These projects, spanning petroleum, natural gas, atomic energy, roadways, railways, and connectivity, are poised to boost industrial activities, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the region’s overall growth.

PM Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing present needs while working towards the development of a resurgent India. He underscored the efforts to enhance energy capabilities in the Eastern states under the Urja Ganaga Yojana, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. The Prime Minister inaugurated a 344 km long product pipeline from Paradip in Odisha to Haldia in West Bengal, contributing to the efficient supply of natural gas.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Indian Oil Corporation Limited Mono Ethylene Glycol project in Paradip Refinery and a 0.6 MMTPA LPG Import facility at Paradip. These initiatives are expected to revolutionize the polyester industry in eastern India and provide raw materials to the textile park in Bhadrak and Paradip.

Reflecting on the changing work culture in the country, PM Modi compared the present government’s commitment to completing development projects on time with the previous government’s approach. He cited examples such as the Paradip Refinery, Paradip – Hyderabad Pipeline in Sangareddy, Telangana, and the 500 km long crude oil pipeline from Haldia to Barauni in Arambagh, West Bengal.

The Prime Minister highlighted the central government’s focus on leveraging Eastern India’s abundant natural resources for Odisha’s development. He mentioned the desalination plant in Ganjam district, treating nearly 50 lakh litres of saline water daily to make it suitable for drinking.

PM Modi stressed the government’s emphasis on modern connectivity in Odisha to boost the state’s economy using local resources. He announced the expansion of national highways in Jajpur, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Khorda, Ganjam, Puri, and Kendujhar, along with the introduction of the new Angul Sukinda railway line to spur development in the Kalinga Nagar Industrial area.
