PM Modi Unveils Major Development Projects in Delhi, Envisions 2025 as a Year of Transformation

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of transformative development projects in Delhi, reaffirming his commitment to housing, education, and urban infrastructure. Addressing a massive gathering, the Prime Minister extended New Year greetings and expressed confidence that 2025 will be a milestone year, propelling India towards its goal of becoming the world’s third-largest economy.

“India stands as a global symbol of political and economic stability,” said Modi, outlining a vision for 2025 that includes becoming the world’s largest manufacturing hub, empowering youth through startups and entrepreneurship, setting new agricultural records, and promoting women-led development.

During the event, the Prime Minister inaugurated 1,675 newly constructed flats at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project, benefiting families living in Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters. Modi personally handed over keys to the beneficiaries, describing the homes as symbols of self-respect and new aspirations.

“Every pucca house is a step closer to our vision of a developed India,” he stated, adding that the Central Government has built over 4 crore houses in the last decade.

He announced plans for an additional 3,000 houses in Delhi and highlighted the success of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), under which over 1 crore homes have been constructed nationwide.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated two major urban redevelopment projects:

  • The World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar, offering 34 lakh square feet of premium commercial space with green building features.
  • The GPRA Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar, comprising 28 modern residential towers designed with eco-conscious infrastructure.

To address the growing urban population, Modi announced an accelerated development plan for the Narela sub-city and proposed traffic decongestion projects, including a tunnel from Shiv Murti to Nelson Mandela Marg.

Modi laid the foundation for three new Delhi University campuses, including Eastern and Western campuses at Surajmal Vihar and Dwarka, and the Veer Savarkar College at Najafgarh. The projects, worth over ₹600 crore, aim to enhance higher education opportunities for Delhi’s youth.

Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated CBSE’s state-of-the-art Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka, featuring advanced facilities and eco-friendly design, built at a cost of ₹300 crore.

Modi highlighted the benefits of the National Education Policy (NEP), emphasizing mother-tongue education and improved access to professional courses for underprivileged students.

The Prime Minister criticized the Delhi government for not implementing the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which could provide free health insurance to millions. Despite this, he highlighted the establishment of 500 Jan Aushadhi Kendras offering medicines at over 80% discounts and the provision of free ration to 75 lakh people under the One Nation, One Ration Card scheme.

Concluding his address, Modi emphasized the importance of cities like Delhi in shaping a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

“2025 will mark the beginning of a new era of good governance, public welfare, and nation-building,” he stated, urging citizens to embrace this vision.

The event, attended by Union Ministers and dignitaries, showcased the Central Government’s unwavering focus on empowering citizens, enhancing urban living standards, and fostering inclusive development.
