Kambhampati’s appointment as Governor of Odisha was announced on December 24, following his tenure as Governor of Mizoram. Before the swearing-in ceremony, Kambhampati visited Puri on Thursday to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath and His Holy Siblings, a gesture that underlines the deep cultural and spiritual significance of the region. He spent the night at Puri Raj Bhavan before returning to Bhubaneswar for the ceremony.

Dr. Kambhampati’s contributions extend beyond academia. He was actively involved in the Lok Sangharsh Samithi agitation led by Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan during the 1974-1975 Emergency, for which he was detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA). His political career saw him serve as the Andhra Pradesh State Executive Member of the Janata Party in 1977 and later as the Andhra Pradesh BJP State President from 2014 to 2018.

With his vast experience in governance, education, and public service, Governor Kambhampati is poised to bring a renewed focus on development and administrative excellence to Odisha.
