PM Modi to Launch and Dedicate Major Infrastructure Projects in Mumbai

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Mumbai on July 13, 2024, to inaugurate and lay the foundation for multiple significant infrastructure projects valued at over Rs 29,400 crore. The event will mark a major milestone in enhancing Mumbai’s transportation and logistics capabilities.

The Prime Minister will arrive at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon at around 5:30 PM to launch, dedicate to the nation, and lay the foundation stones for key projects related to the road, railways, and ports sectors. Later, at approximately 7 PM, he will visit the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) Secretariat at G-Block, Bandra Kurla Complex, to inaugurate the INS Towers.

Thane Borivali Tunnel Project Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Thane Borivali Tunnel Project, an ambitious initiative worth Rs 16,600 crore. This twin-tube tunnel, spanning 11.8 km, will pass beneath the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, creating a direct connection between the Western Express Highway at Borivali and Thane Ghodbander Road. The project is expected to reduce the travel distance between Thane and Borivali by 12 km, saving commuters about one hour of travel time.

Goregaon Mulund Link Road (GMLR) Tunnel Project The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the tunnel work at the Goregaon Mulund Link Road (GMLR) Project, valued at over Rs 6,300 crore. The 6.65 km long GMLR will provide road connectivity from the Western Express Highway at Goregaon to the Eastern Express Highway at Mulund. This project will enhance direct connectivity from the western suburbs to the new proposed airport in Navi Mumbai and the Pune-Mumbai Expressway.

Kalyan Yard Remodelling and Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Kalyan Yard Remodelling and the Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal at Turbhe in Navi Mumbai. The Kalyan Yard remodelling will help segregate long-distance and suburban traffic, increasing the yard’s capacity to handle more trains and improving operational efficiency. The Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal will be constructed on an area of over 32,600 square meters, providing additional employment opportunities and serving as a terminal for handling cement and other commodities.

Dedications to the Nation:

New Platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Platform Extensions at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Prime Minister Modi will dedicate new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, which can accommodate longer trains, enhancing passenger capacity. Additionally, platforms 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station have been extended by 382 meters, including a cover shed and washable apron, allowing for the augmentation of trains up to 24 coaches.

Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana The Prime Minister will launch the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana, a transformative internship program with an outlay of around Rs 5,600 crore. This initiative aims to tackle youth unemployment by providing skill enhancement and industry exposure opportunities for young people aged 18 to 30 years.

Finally, Prime Minister Modi will visit the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) Secretariat at Bandra Kurla Complex to inaugurate the INS Towers. This modern and efficient office space will serve as the nerve center for the newspaper industry in Mumbai, meeting the evolving needs of INS members.
