PM GatiShakti Summit: Transforming India’s Logistics Ecosystem
New Delhi: The ‘PM GatiShakti Summit: Towards Logistics Efficiency and Integrated Infrastructure Planning’ was inaugurated in New Delhi, organized by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
The event was inaugurated in the presence of Sh. Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, DPIIT, Smt. Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary, Logistics Division, DPIIT, Sh. Shailesh K Pathak, Secretary-General, FICCI, Sh. Sandip Somany, and Co-Chair, FICCI Committee on Logistics, Sh. Amit Kumar.
Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh highlighted the transformative impact of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan on the logistics ecosystem. He emphasized India’s commitment to global growth, with PM GatiShakti evolving from a district-level rollout to a global public good.
Smt. Sumita Dawra underscored the importance of infrastructure and logistics as drivers of economic growth. She outlined key reforms, including State Logistics policies, digitization at ports, and the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, contributing to India’s improved Logistics Performance Index Ranking.
The discussion delved into the comprehensive area development approach of PM GatiShakti, its role in integrated planning, and creation of next-generation infrastructure. Use cases in sectors like telecom, petroleum, renewable energy, and area-based planning were showcased, emphasizing the reduction of critical last & first-mile gaps and promoting capacity sharing.
The panel discussed opportunities in the logistics ecosystem, attracting cross-sectoral investments. Sessions on Digital Infrastructure, Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP), and Green Logistics highlighted developments in creating an integrated gateway, a resilient supply chain, and sustainable practices.
The summit served as a platform for stakeholders to explore strategies and foster data-driven decision-making for comprehensive and sustainable growth. It aimed to generate valuable insights to maximize the impact of PM GatiShakti, contributing to Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business in India.
