Piyush Goyal Interacts with Entrepreneurs, Emphasizes Women-Led Development

New Delhi: On the eve of the 75th Republic Day, Union Minister Piyush Goyal engaged with innovators and entrepreneurs in a vibrant interaction session. Applauding the impactful ‘nari shakti’ exposition at the Republic Day Parade, Goyal highlighted the pivotal role of women in driving India’s growth story. He emphasized that the inclusion of women in the formal labour force would significantly contribute to India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation, adding substantial value to the GDP.

Expressing delight at the increasing participation of women in the startup ecosystem and their innovative contributions, Goyal noted that 20 unicorn startups are led by women. He highlighted the rising number of women patent holders, with the Indian Patent Office granting a record 75,000 patents in the last 10 months, showcasing India’s capacity for rapid innovation.

Discussing Ease of Doing Business, Goyal informed that 40,000 compliances across the country have been either eliminated or simplified, aimed at easing the burden on entrepreneurs. He underscored efforts to reduce the criminalization of laws related to businesses, emphasizing that the Jan Vishwas Bill’s passage marked the first step toward trust-based governance for business ease.

Commending the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Goyal credited it for empowering entrepreneurs and contributing to India’s growth. He highlighted India’s transformation from being part of a ‘fragile five’ to becoming the fifth-largest global economy, pointing out the nation’s stability amid global economic turbulence.

Expressing confidence in the youth, particularly women, Goyal envisioned a corruption-free India with a $35 trillion economy. He introduced the ‘Lakhpati Didi Scheme,’ anticipating rapid growth, with entrepreneurs and innovators leading the way. Goyal urged startups to contribute to India’s innovation-led growth story, aligning with the nation’s goal to become a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of Independence.
