Bhubaneswar: To popularise Odia cuisines, Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) is soon going to launch ‘Nimantran’, a chain of restaurants in the state.
The restaurants will be managed by OTDC through a dedicated wing which will serve a variety of authentic Odia cuisines from various districts of Odisha. A special menu has been planned by prominent chefs to serve the taste of Odisha on the platters of the diners at the restaurant.
The construction work of the restaurant near RD Women’s College in Bhubaneswar has been completed. The interior of the restaurant has been done covering the essence of Odisha.
In Sambalpur, the restaurant is coming up at the 17th century Rani Bakhri (Queen’s Palace) and the work is almost complete.
“We are trying to include some of the authentic Odia cuisines from across the state. Odia cuisines are unique and healthy, and we believe that people coming from other states should get an opportunity to taste delicacies of locals of Odisha,” said a senior tourism official.
“The interior of the restaurant would give a glimpse of Odisha to the diners,” he added.
In the initial phase restaurants at Bhubaneswar, Puri and Sambalpur will be launched, however the date is yet to be finalised. OTDC will also deploy three Food-on-Wheel mobile vans in Bhubaneswar and Puri.
