OMFED Set to Enter Chocolate Market, Plans Bottled Water Launch Soon

Bhubaneswar: Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (OMFED) is gearing up to enter the chocolate market. OMFED Managing Director Vijay Amrut Kulange announced the development on Thursday, signaling a strategic expansion of the federation’s footprint in the dairy and food industry.

According to Kulange, a unique chocolate design has already been developed in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). A detailed project report (DPR) is currently being prepared and will soon be submitted to the state government to seek capital investment for setting up a dedicated OMFED chocolate manufacturing plant.

“The entry into chocolate production marks a significant step forward for OMFED,” Kulange said, noting that the initiative aims to not only diversify product offerings but also boost value addition within the state’s dairy sector.

In addition to chocolate production, OMFED is preparing to launch bottled water in the market within the next four months. This venture is part of the federation’s broader plan to explore high-demand consumer products while leveraging its existing distribution infrastructure.

Kulange also shared that OMFED has set an ambitious target to raise milk production by 10 lakh litres over the next year. Currently, the federation produces around 120 tons of ghee per month, and steps are being taken to scale up ghee production in response to increasing market demand.
