
Bhubaneswar: The 207th Board of Directors meeting of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation Ltd (OLIC) was convened on January 24, 2025, under the leadership of Anu Garg, IAS, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Water Resources, and Chairperson of OLIC. The meeting was attended by Alok Kumar Kar, IAS, Managing Director, and other board members.
In a significant decision, the Board approved tenders for the installation of solar-powered deep bore wells across six districts in Odisha. The approved projects include the installation of 500 bore wells in Kandhamal, 600 in Mayurbhanj, 300 in Deogarh, 700 in Koraput, and 1,000 each in Nabarangpur and Nuapada districts. This initiative aims to enhance irrigation facilities and promote sustainable agriculture in these regions.
The Board also gave the green light to recruit 261 technical and non-technical personnel to fill sanctioned vacant positions, a move aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of the corporation. Additionally, the Board sanctioned a 4% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for regular employees, effective from July 1, 2022, reflecting the corporation’s commitment to employee welfare.
These decisions underline OLIC’s focus on advancing irrigation infrastructure, boosting employment, and fostering sustainable development across Odisha.
