Odisha’s Sarthak Arya Triumphs with Double Crown at WTT Youth Contender Meet in Algeria

Bhubaneswar: Sarthak Arya, the 14-year-old prodigy hailing from Gunthilo village in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, has etched his name in glory by securing a double crown at the WTT Youth Contender meet held in Algeria.

Sarthak’s remarkable performance in the under-15 boys’ singles category saw him emerge victorious against formidable opponents. He defeated Kim Seongwon from Korea with a score of 3-1 and Uzbekistan’s Temurbek Nurmonov with a dominant 3-0.

Not content with just one triumph, Sarthak Arya, in collaboration with partner Riana, clinched the mixed doubles crown. The dynamic duo showcased exceptional skills to overcome top pairs from Korea, Hong Kong, and China on their way to securing the coveted title.

Prior to their success in Algeria, Sarthak and Riana had already made their mark by winning a silver medal in Tunisia.

Sarthak Arya, who has consistently held the No. 1 position in the country across different age groups for the past three years, is now set to represent India at the WTT Star Contender meet scheduled to commence in Singapore from March 13. His aspirations also extend to the Asian Youth Championship, slated to take place in Sri Lanka from May 26, where he aims to continue his pursuit of sporting excellence.
