Bhubaneswar:Paddy procurement during the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2025–26 is progressing smoothly across all 30 districts of Odisha, with the State witnessing strong farmer participation and efficient procurement operations. As on date, a total of 30,49,560 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of paddy has been procured from 6,93,097 farmers, reflecting the steady momentum of the procurement drive.
Several western Odisha districts have already crossed significant milestones. Sambalpur, Subarnapur, Bargarh, Bolangir and Jharsuguda have procured more than 60 per cent of their respective targets. Sambalpur has emerged as a frontrunner, completing 96 per cent of its procurement target, with 61,650 farmers selling their paddy as of January 22, 2026, compared to 56,831 farmers on the same date last year.
Subarnapur district has achieved 77 per cent of its procurement target, benefiting around 57,217 farmers, up from 51,500 farmers during the corresponding period of the previous KMS. In Ganjam, procurement operations have seen a sharp rise, with 476 mandis currently operational and 45,255 farmers selling paddy, a significant increase from 18,121 farmers last year on the same date. Rayagada has also recorded improved participation, with 10,490 farmers selling paddy compared to 9,655 farmers in the last KMS.
The State Government has so far disbursed ₹7,914.15 crore towards Minimum Support Price (MSP) payments and input assistance. In a major reform aimed at enhancing transparency, Aadhaar-based e-KYC payment systems have been implemented for the first time, ensuring direct payments to genuine farmers registered on the Paddy Procurement Automation System (P-PAS) portal.
Procurement operations have recently commenced in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Jajpur and Kendrapra districts and are gradually gaining momentum. To ensure smooth operations, a round-the-clock control room has been set up at the Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation (OSCSC) headquarters to monitor paddy arrivals, oversee procurement progress, plan lifting schedules and facilitate seamless movement of foodgrains from mandis.
