
Bhubaneswar: In a significant move aimed at bolstering infrastructure in Odisha’s energy and irrigation sectors, Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister KV Singh Deo held a high-level meeting with representatives of WAPCOS, a Central Government Mini-Ratna company, at Lok Seva Bhavan. The discussions focused on key projects in power, irrigation, and infrastructure development that are expected to drive the state’s growth in these sectors.
WAPCOS, which has a proven track record in Odisha, has successfully executed several important projects, including the Rengali Irrigation Project, the Gangadhar Meher Irrigation Project, and the Chipilima Power Channel. During the meeting, special attention was given to the repair and restoration of damaged sections of the Chipilima Power Channel. The company assured the Minister that necessary steps would be taken promptly to address the issues.
The talks also included detailed discussions on upcoming projects, where Minister Singh Deo sought clarity on project costs, timelines, and technical specifications. He highlighted that innovative solutions and forward-thinking ideas presented during the meeting could greatly enhance Odisha’s infrastructure, unlocking further potential for development.
The meeting was attended by Hemant Kumar Sharma, Principal Secretary of the Energy Department, along with senior officials from both the Water Resources and Energy Departments.
As Odisha moves forward with its ambitious infrastructure plans, this collaboration with WAPCOS is expected to bring about a positive transformation in the state’s power and irrigation sectors.
