Odisha Tribals to Benefit from ₹79,156 Crore Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan

Bhubaneswar: In a landmark decision aimed at improving the lives of tribal communities, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan. With a substantial outlay of ₹79,156 crore, this initiative is poised to significantly enhance the socio-economic conditions of tribal populations across India, with a special focus on Odisha.

The ambitious plan will impact 27 districts, 234 blocks, and 7,667 tribal-majority villages in Odisha alone. It aims to benefit approximately 10,85,661 Scheduled Tribe households and 48,15,670 tribal individuals within the state. Key components of the campaign include the introduction of the Tribal Homestay Program, support for Forest Rights Holders, and initiatives for Sickle Cell Disease Management. These efforts are designed to address both immediate and long-term needs of the tribal population in Odisha.

The Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan seeks to cover around 63,000 villages across 549 districts and 2,740 blocks throughout 30 States and Union Territories. The mission focuses on bridging critical gaps in social infrastructure, health, education, and livelihood. By adopting a comprehensive approach, it aims to achieve holistic and sustainable development for tribal communities.
