Odisha’s Chess Prodigy Padmini Rout Ties the Knot with Jaykishin Mankani

Bhubaneswar: Celebrated international chess player hailing from Odisha, Padmini Rout, entered a new chapter in her life as she exchanged vows with Jaykishin Mankani from Mumbai in a traditional ceremony held in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

The nuptials were conducted following Vedic traditions at a hotel in Patia, witnessed by close family members and esteemed guests, including fellow chess players from both Odisha and beyond. Notable attendees included Soumya Swaminathan and Nisha Mohota, adding a touch of grandeur to the event.

While Jaykishin, an IT professional and chess enthusiast, joined hands with Padmini, the accomplished chess player, in matrimony, Padmini remains dedicated to her chess pursuits.

Padmini Rout, a former U-16 World Chess Championship champion, boasts an impressive record as a four-time consecutive National Women’s Premier title holder (2014-2017) and the Asian women’s champion in 2018. Her accolades also include the titles of Woman Grand Master and International Master.

Representing the national chess team in various international competitions, including Women’s Chess Olympiad, Women’s World Team Chess Championship, and Women’s Asian Team Chess Championship, Padmini has consistently showcased her prowess. Notably, she clinched an individual gold medal at the 2014 Women’s Chess Olympiad in Norway.

Padmini played a crucial role in the Indian women’s team during the Chess Olympiads in Baku (2016) and Batumi (2018). The chess prodigy’s marriage marks a joyous occasion for the chess community and her well-wishers.
