Bhubaneswar: The academic session 2025–26 for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Odisha officially commenced on July 10, marking a timely start for the new batch of students in government colleges and universities across the state. The Higher Education Department, which had earlier advanced the admission process, confirmed that classes have begun as per the academic calendar.

According to official data, a total of 1,60,255 students have already enrolled in undergraduate programmes, while 18,428 students have taken admission into postgraduate courses by the end of the third round of Phase-I admissions.

The department has ensured that the entire Phase-I spot admission process for undergraduate programmes will be concluded by July 16, while the final phase of postgraduate admissions is scheduled to be completed by July 25.

Officials from the Higher Education Department stated that the decision to begin the admission cycle early was made keeping students’ academic interests in mind. The move is expected to streamline the academic year, allowing for timely completion of courses, smoother conduct of examinations, and prompt publication of results.
