Odisha to See Rain and Thunderstorms as IMD Issues Weather Alert

Bhubaneswar: Relief is on the way for Odisha residents struggling with soaring temperatures, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the state over the next three days.

Weather Forecast and Affected Regions

According to the IMD bulletin, light rain or thundershowers are expected at one or two locations in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, and Nuapada, while dry conditions will prevail in other parts of the state.

A yellow warning has been issued for these districts, cautioning residents about possible thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph.

Rainfall Predictions for April 3 and 4

  • April 3: Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Rayagada.

  • April 4: Showers and thunderstorms may extend to Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

Residents in the affected districts are advised to stay alert and take precautions against lightning and strong winds. The IMD has urged people to avoid open areas during thunderstorms and to follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.
