Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to initiate a statewide housing survey under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) – Rural, beginning January 24. Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik announced on Monday that the survey aims to identify beneficiaries for the housing scheme, with provisions for both online and offline applications.
Residents opting for offline applications can submit their forms at their local Panchayat offices.
Minister Naik highlighted significant updates to the scheme, including an increased allocation of houses under PMAY-Rural. “The Centre has raised the target from two crore to three crore houses. Odisha is optimistic about securing an enhanced share in this allocation,” he said.
Additionally, the eligibility criteria for the scheme have been relaxed. The upcoming survey will include individuals who have separated from their families, such as sons living apart from parents or wives living independently from husbands. Those who applied for the scheme earlier but did not receive benefits can also reapply.
The survey is expected to run for six to eight weeks, providing ample time for eligible beneficiaries to register.
