Bhubaneswar: In a groundbreaking development for healthcare education in Odisha, the state government has announced the launch of PhD courses for medical students. Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling has lauded this initiative as a major achievement, marking a significant step in enhancing the quality of healthcare education and research in the state.

This new academic venture is spearheaded by the Odisha University of Health Sciences, which has already signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several prestigious institutions. The key partners include AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Sri Sri University, IIT Bhubaneswar, and XIMB Bhubaneswar. These collaborations are set to enrich the PhD programs with advanced research opportunities and interdisciplinary knowledge.

Further expanding the scope of these programs, additional partnerships are anticipated with leading medical institutions such as PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Pondicherry, and SGPGI Lucknow. These collaborations aim to bring a wider range of expertise and resources to Odisha’s healthcare education landscape.

The Odisha University of Health Sciences will also benefit from the involvement of renowned academicians. Dr. Yogesh Vashist from Germany, Prof. Anil Agarwal from Delhi, Prof. Gitanjali Batmanabane from Vizag, and Prof. Vikram Kate from JIPMER Pondicherry will contribute to the program, providing valuable insights and guidance.

These initiatives are designed to advance student education, foster cutting-edge research, and facilitate knowledge exchange between educators and students.
