Odisha Revenue Department Showcases Two Years of Reforms, Unveils Achievement Report

Bhubaneswar: Showcasing key reforms and administrative milestones achieved over the past two years, the Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Department on Friday released its Achievement Booklet and a documentary video outlining major initiatives undertaken across revenue administration and disaster management sectors.

The booklet and video were formally unveiled by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari at Lok Seva Bhavan as part of the state government’s second anniversary celebrations themed “Bikashara Dhara, Odisha Sara” (Development Across Odisha).

Addressing officials on the occasion, Pujari acknowledged the contribution of officers and staff members working across different levels of the department, from Tahasil offices to the state headquarters. He said the department’s achievements reflect collective administrative efforts and expressed confidence that the momentum of reforms would continue in the coming years.

The publication highlights a series of citizen-focused interventions and governance reforms introduced by the department. Among the major achievements documented are the correction of Column-II entries in Records of Rights (RoRs), delivery of more than 2.5 crore revenue services under the Odisha Right to Public Services Act (ORTPS), simplification of land-related dispute resolution mechanisms and efforts to reduce issues associated with land classification.

The report also outlines institutional measures such as the establishment of the Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu Land Cell and the opening of 108 new Sub-Registrar Offices to improve accessibility and streamline public services.

In the disaster management sector, the department highlighted prompt compensation disbursal during emergencies and cited the management of cyclones Dana and Mantha with zero reported casualties as a major achievement.

The booklet also presents the department’s future roadmap, which includes the proposed launch of the “Ama Gaanre Ama Tahasil” programme to bring revenue services closer to rural communities, establishment of the State Institute of Disaster Resilience (SIDR), and introduction of a new Rehabilitation and Resettlement framework.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to making public services more efficient, transparent and citizen-friendly.

Pujari also referred to the state government’s recent decision to restore the original English spellings of 64 place names across Odisha, stating that the move corrects colonial-era distortions that did not reflect authentic Odia pronunciation.

He further informed that the Revenue and Disaster Management Department remains prepared to respond to any challenges that may arise from the anticipated impact of El Niño during the current year.

Additional Chief Secretary of the department Dr. Arvind Kumar Padhee, Special Relief Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil and senior departmental officials were present at the event.
