Odisha to Get Eight New Kendriya Vidyalayas

Bhubaneswar: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the establishment of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across the country, with eight of them set to be built in Odisha. This initiative comes with an investment of Rs 5,872 crore, aimed at expanding access to quality education in underserved areas.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the exciting development, highlighting that the new KVs will be spread across the districts of Titlagarh and Patnagarh in Balangir, Khurda, Athmallik, and Talcher in Angul, Kuchinda in Sambalpur, Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal, and Jeypore in Koraput. These locations were chosen to improve educational infrastructure in rural and remote areas, where access to high-quality schools has been a challenge.

Pradhan expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for sanctioning the establishment of eight new KVs in Odisha, stressing the importance of expanding educational opportunities for children from both transferable and non-transferable families of the Central Government, as well as children from economically disadvantaged and rural backgrounds.

With these eight additions, Odisha will see a significant improvement in educational access, supporting the region’s development and fostering a more inclusive educational system.
