Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to disburse the first tranche of funds to 20 lakh beneficiaries under the third phase of the Subhadra Yojana on November 24. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida confirmed the preparations for the upcoming disbursement, marking another step in the state’s commitment to supporting women and children through this flagship welfare program.
At a recent review meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan, chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, senior officials discussed measures to streamline the disbursement process. Key attendees included Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department Shubha Sharma, as well as District Collectors, Additional District Magistrates, Sub Collectors, and Block Development Officers (BDOs) from across Odisha who joined via virtual media.
The meeting focused on addressing issues faced by beneficiaries experiencing delays in receiving payments due to bank and Aadhaar linking issues. The officials emphasized that any errors detected in digital payments processed through the National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI) will be investigated and resolved.
To ensure transparency, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was established for beneficiary verification. Block-level verification committees, led by BDOs, will screen applications in rural areas, while Executive Officers and Municipal Commissioners will lead similar committees in municipal areas and corporations, respectively. Verified applications will then be sent to district Collectors for final approval and submission.
In addition, Subhadra Help Desks have been set up in each district to assist beneficiaries, and field-level verification teams will conduct on-site visits to confirm applications. Chief Secretary Ahuja underscored the importance of impartiality and accuracy in the verification process to ensure that all eligible recipients receive their benefits.
Since its inception, the Subhadra Yojana has received over one crore applications. Nearly 60 lakh beneficiaries received the first installment of Rs. 5,000 each across the first two phases.
