Bhubaneswar: The 125th birth anniversary of the esteemed statesman and nationalist leader, Utkal Keshari Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab, will be celebrated throughout the year, commencing with a three-day event in Bhubaneswar from November 21 to 23. The year-long observance aims to honor Dr. Mahatab’s contributions to Odisha’s identity and legacy, highlighting his pivotal role in shaping the state.

A high-level committee from the Department of Oriya Language, Literature, and Culture met at the state guest house to outline the plans for the grand jubilee. The Chief Minister announced the formation of sub-committees to organize year-long events across the state, facilitating research and the publication of untold stories from Dr. Mahatab’s life. Several of his books will be republished in Hindi, English, and other regional languages, along with the release of a comprehensive multi-volume book on his legacy.

Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahatab reflected on the multifaceted life of Dr. Mahatab, calling attention to his roles as a fighter, administrator, social reformer, and unifier.
