Odisha Sprinters Shine at Asian Athletics Championships 2025: Srabani Nanda Claims Silver in Women’s Relay

Bhubaneswar: It was a proud moment for Odisha at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships 2025 in Gumi, South Korea, as state sprinters brought laurels to the country and their homeland with stellar performances on the track.

After Animesh Kujur’s bronze medal finish in the men’s 200m event, where he set a new national record, it was Srabani Nanda who further lifted the spirits by clinching silver in the women’s 4x100m relay on Saturday.

Running the opening leg of the relay, Srabani teamed up with SS Sneha, Abinaya Rajarajan, and Nithya Gandhe. The Indian quartet delivered an impressive performance, clocking 43.86 seconds to secure second place. The Chinese team took gold with a timing of 43.28 seconds, while Thailand secured bronze at 44.26 seconds.

The official handle of Odisha Sports shared a video of the event, celebrating the state’s sporting triumph with the caption: “Odisha’s Srabani Nanda and team won Silver 🥈 in the 4x100m Relay at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships 2025!”

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also extended heartfelt congratulations to Srabani and the team for their outstanding achievement. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:

“My heartfelt congratulations to the women’s team for winning the silver medal in the women’s 4 × 100 metre relay race at the #AsianAthleticsChampionships held in Gumi, South Korea. Along with this, I extend my warmest congratulations to Srabani Nanda, the Odia athlete from Odisha’s soil, who is part of the team.
