Bhubaneswar: Emphasising that learning continues beyond employment, Odisha Minister for Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Sampad Chandra Swain on Tuesday distributed appointment letters to over 400 students at a ‘Campus to Career’ programme held at the Government Polytechnic, Bhubaneswar.
The placements come after students completed training in various technical trades, securing opportunities through campus recruitment in more than 32 companies, including Tata Power, JSW Group, Paytm, Yazaki and MedPlus. Of the selected candidates, 175 were male and 234 female, reflecting strong participation of women in technical education. The highest annual package offered reached ₹3.95 lakh, with Paytm among the top recruiters.
Addressing the gathering, Swain said the achievement reflects the growing strength of Odisha’s skill development ecosystem. He noted that skill training not only enhances employability but also equips individuals to establish themselves in a competitive job market.
The event also witnessed the inauguration of a ‘Waste to Wealth’ Skill Park on the campus, developed using scrap materials and discarded machinery from training units and laboratories. The Minister lauded the initiative as a step towards promoting sustainability and fostering ‘green skills’ among students.
In a move highlighting women’s empowerment, the Minister released a publication titled Nari Vandana: Empowering Narishakti, documenting the success stories of 168 female students who secured placements after training under the ‘Sudakshya’ scheme. He congratulated the beneficiaries and encouraged more young women to take advantage of such initiatives.
