Odisha Speeds Up Kalinganagar Corridor Plans After High-Level Review

Bhubaneswar: With Kalinganagar emerging as a key industrial hub, Usha Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department and Chairperson of Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha Limited, on Tuesday undertook a detailed ground-level review to assess land readiness, infrastructure and urban development initiatives in the region.

The visit began with inspections at Alijanga and Sukutijhara, where nearly 600 acres of land were examined for their preparedness to support upcoming industrial expansion. The review focused on ensuring that land parcels are development-ready and aligned with future investment requirements.

Accompanied by District Collector Ambar Kar and ADM Kalinganagar Santosh Kumar Mishra, Padhee also visited the facility of Tata Steel at DB Plot No.-2. Discussions with company representatives and officials centred on project progress and infrastructure support needed to sustain industrial growth.

In parallel, she reviewed the status of ongoing urban development projects and flagship schemes, with emphasis on improving civic amenities, strengthening service delivery systems and enhancing liveability in industrial townships.

A strategic meeting held at the KNDA Conference Hall formed a crucial part of the visit, where officials deliberated on the roadmap for the Kalinganagar National Industrial Corridor (KNIC). The discussions highlighted the need for streamlined land allocation, robust infrastructure planning and better integration of industrial growth with urban services.

The field visit underscored the state government’s focus on accelerating project execution through on-site monitoring and stronger inter-departmental coordination, aimed at creating sustainable and investment-ready industrial ecosystems in Odisha.
