Bhubaneswar: To enhance road safety awareness, the Commerce and Transport Department of Odisha has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate for the ‘Junior Rakshak’ initiative. The MoU was signed by Lalmohan Sethi, Additional Commissioner Transport (Road Safety), and Sagar K Mohanty, Director NCC, Odisha, at the Convention Hall of Lok Seva Bhavan.
Under this initiative, approximately 63,000 NCC cadets will serve as ‘Junior Rakshaks’ in the road safety sector. These cadets will undergo road safety education and training, committing themselves to prevent road accidents and save lives. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, in a video message, highlighted the importance of these NCC cadets as future road safety ambassadors who will play a crucial role in spreading awareness among their peers, families, and the public.
