Bhubaneswar: Odisha is poised to play a critical role in India’s expanding titanium industry, thanks to a newly signed MoU between an Indo-Kazakh joint venture and Kamenogorsk Titanium and Magnesium Plant JSC (UKTMP JSC) of Kazakhstan. The partnership is expected to fast-track titanium slag production and increase exports globally, paving the way for further developments in aircraft parts manufacturing in India.
According to an official release, Odisha will be instrumental in supplying rare earth and titanium raw materials essential for this new venture. The state’s abundant resources in minerals and metals position it as a central contributor, reinforcing its status as a crucial player in India’s growing titanium sector. This collaboration will not only elevate Odisha’s role in national titanium production but is also projected to create substantial employment opportunities across the region.
The MoU was signed by President of UKTMP JSC Asem Mamutova and IRL (India) Ltd. Chairman and Managing Director, Dipendra Singh, in the presence of other senior officials. This agreement underscores a shared commitment to strengthen India’s capacity in the high-value titanium sector.
With Odisha’s vast mineral wealth and established infrastructure, the state is set to become a cornerstone in India’s ambitions to lead in the titanium market, contributing to the country’s export growth and industrial expansion. This move not only enhances India’s titanium capabilities but also emphasizes Odisha’s pivotal role in driving economic growth and technological advancement in the country.
