Odisha Secures ₹20,900 Crore Investments at Make in Odisha Conclave 2025

Bhubaneswar: The Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 has emerged as a monumental success for the state, attracting ₹20,900 crore in investment proposals across key sectors such as IT/ITeS, electronics, semiconductors, data centers, and related industries. These investments are expected to generate over 49,000 direct and indirect jobs, providing a significant boost to Odisha’s economy while promoting balanced regional development.

Notable companies, including Zoho, Emmvee Photovoltaic Power, Smartsync Innovations, Kaynes Circuits India, Heterogenous Integration Packaging Solutions, Sancode Technologies, Nextgen Hitech Energy, Vistas Global WLL, and VVDN Technologies, have pledged significant investments. Additionally, the Electronics and Information Technology (E&IT) Department of Odisha signed MoUs with NASSCOM, the Wadhwani Foundation, and the Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL) in Bengaluru. These agreements aim to establish an AI Centre of Excellence, offer emerging technology training for government officials, and further the implementation of the state’s ambitious O-Chip program.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi virtually inaugurated the foundation laying ceremony for SiCSem Pvt. Ltd.’s Silicon Carbide semiconductor power devices manufacturing facility in Infovalley, Bhubaneswar. Spread over 15 acres, this project will play a vital role in advancing Odisha’s semiconductor ecosystem.

The event also featured two insightful panel discussions on the themes “ESDM: The Next Frontier Catalyzing Odisha’s Tech Revolution” and “Unlocking the Potential of Tier II Cities: GCCs & FinTech Opportunities.” Leaders from renowned companies, including Texas Instruments, Adobe, PwC, and EY, participated in these discussions, focusing on Odisha’s potential as a global hub for electronics system design and manufacturing and its evolving role in the FinTech and Global Capability Center (GCC) sectors.

Union Minister for Railways, Electronics & IT, and Information & Broadcasting, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, praised Odisha’s growing prominence in the semiconductor sector, highlighting the rapid approval of projects under the India Semiconductor Mission. “Odisha, with its talented youth, will play a pivotal role in India’s journey as a major semiconductor destination,” he stated.

Health & Family Welfare, Electronics and IT Minister, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, outlined the government’s vision of transforming Odisha into a $500 billion economy by 2036 and a $1.5 trillion economy by 2047. He announced initiatives like dedicated tech business parks, IT clusters, FinTech hubs, and data centers to achieve these ambitious goals.

Dr. Rabindra Narayan Behera, MP from Jajpur, emphasized the transformative opportunities brought by emerging technologies like quantum computing and AI, asserting Odisha’s readiness to become a leading hub for innovation and technology. Principal Secretary of the E&IT Department, Vishal Dev, lauded Odisha’s rise as a prominent technology hub, with major global firms establishing their centers in the state.

The inaugural session also showcased Odisha’s investment ecosystem and technological strides, with senior executives from Oracle, Accenture, and Deloitte commending the state government’s proactive and investor-friendly policies. Key announcements included Kaynes Technology’s ₹1,500 crore investment in PCB manufacturing and 3dGS’s commitment to advancing high-end product R&D in collaboration with the state.

Union Minister Vaishnaw unveiled the “India Semiconductor Market Report: Analysis, Trends, and Forecasts till 2030” by the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA). He also inaugurated the Silicon Carbide Research Innovation Centre at IIT Bhubaneswar and two new STPI centers in Koraput and Jajpur, further strengthening the state’s infrastructure for innovation.

A noteworthy initiative saw the VLSI Society of India, along with the E&IT Department, sponsor 1,000 advanced electronics kits for school and engineering students. Industry leaders highlighted the importance of fostering innovation-driven growth, bolstering infrastructure for electronics manufacturing, and creating opportunities in Tier-II cities to strengthen Odisha’s position as a major tech hub.
