Odisha Proposes New Wind Power Projects to Boost Renewable Energy

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to enhance its renewable energy capacity with the introduction of new wind power projects totaling 392.8 MW, announced Deputy Chief Minister and State Energy Minister K V Singh Deo in the assembly today.

The state is intensifying its efforts to increase electricity production from unconventional sources. As part of this initiative, proposals have been submitted for establishing wind power projects across various locations in Odisha.

In response to an inquiry from MLA Om Prakash Mishra, Minister K V Singh Deo confirmed that two significant wind power projects have already received approval: a 49.5 MW project at Deomali in Koraput by JSW and a 48 MW project at Umerkot by HPCL.

Additionally, several other proposed wind power projects are currently awaiting government approval. These include capacities of 48.3 MW at Jagatsinghpur, 49.5 MW at Kusumi in Sambalpur, and 99.5 MW at Papadahandi in Nabarangpur district, all put forward by ONGC Tripura Power Company.
