Bhubaneswar: The city is set to witness high-octane hockey action as the 73rd All India Police Hockey Championship 2025 is scheduled to take place at Kalinga Stadium from April 7 to 15. Organized under the aegis of Odisha Police, the tournament will feature 27 men’s and 10 women’s police teams from across the country, along with the participation of renowned international players and dignitaries.
A preparatory meeting, chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania, was convened at the State Police Headquarters to finalize arrangements for the tournament. The DGP emphasized the importance of ensuring top-notch facilities for players and guests, directing senior officials to oversee accommodation, training grounds, security measures, and hospitality arrangements.
To facilitate smooth practice sessions, players will train at Kalinga Stadium, Pokhariput, and KIIT campus grounds. Special security measures will be implemented to ensure the safety of participants and spectators, with additional focus on opening and closing ceremonies, guest reception, and smooth conduct of matches.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including ADG (Railways and Coastal Security) Arun Bothra, ADG (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, ADG (Headquarters) Dayal Gangwar, ADG Rajesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Cuttack-Bhubaneswar) Narasingh Bhola, and IGP (Training) Anup Kumar Sahu, among others.
With Odisha emerging as a premier destination for hockey, the 73rd All India Hockey Championship is expected to reinforce the state’s commitment to promoting the sport at both national and international levels.
