Odisha NCC Cadets Make History, Set to Represent the State at Republic Day

Bhubaneswar: Marking a historic milestone, the Odisha National Cadet Corps (NCC) contingent is set to represent the state at the Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2025 in New Delhi. For the first time in its 75-year history, the contingent will travel by air, making Odisha only the third state in India to achieve this significant feat.

This groundbreaking achievement reflects the Odisha State Government’s unwavering commitment to empowering its youth and fostering excellence through the NCC. The contingent comprises 127 cadets selected through a rigorous process from over 63,000 cadets across Odisha. Following their selection, the cadets underwent an intense 30-day training program to prepare for competitive events, including drill competitions, cultural presentations, and other prestigious activities at the national level.

In addition to competing, the contingent will proudly showcase Odisha’s rich cultural heritage during events such as the Prime Minister’s Rally and cultural competitions. Their performances will highlight the state’s diversity and vibrant traditions, offering a glimpse into Odisha’s artistic and cultural ethos on the national stage.

This historic moment was made possible by the proactive initiatives of the Odisha State Government, which has consistently prioritized nurturing youth talent through platforms like the NCC. Speaking on the occasion, Col. Satyabrata Swain, Chief Selection and Training Officer of the Odisha RDC Contingent and Group Commander of NCC Odisha, remarked, “This is a proud moment for Odisha. Our cadets are setting an inspiring example of excellence and dedication, reflecting the state’s progressive vision and commitment to youth empowerment.”

To honor this achievement, a grand send-off event is scheduled for December 24, 2024, at the Utkal Auditorium. The cadets will present a vibrant cultural program, celebrating Odisha’s traditions and artistic talent, before embarking on their historic journey to New Delhi.
