Odisha Mining Corporation Honored with Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar 2023

Bhubaneswar: In a momentous recognition of its commitment to promoting sports through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) was bestowed with the prestigious Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar 2023. The award was presented in the category of ‘Encouragement to Sports through Corporate Social Responsibility’ at a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

The Managing Director of OMC, Balwant Singh, received the award from President Droupadi Murmu in acknowledgment of the corporation’s exemplary efforts in fostering sports development in the state.

Under the guidance and support of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who advocates “Sports for Youth, Youth for Future,” OMC has played a pivotal role in supporting the Sports and Youth Services Department for the holistic development of sports in Odisha. Noteworthy contributions include substantial support to Hockey India over the past five years, with a committed commitment for the next decade, signifying OMC’s dedication to the immediate and long-term growth of hockey in the country.

Additionally, OMC allocates 3% of its net profit to the Sports and Youth Services Department, reinforcing its commitment to sports development in Odisha. The corporation has gone beyond financial contributions by providing employment opportunities to 12 sportspersons, extending support to budding athletes, spearheading infrastructure development projects across the state, and nurturing talent within local communities.

This accolade reflects OMC’s unwavering dedication to the advancement of sports, aligning with the broader vision of creating a vibrant and thriving sports culture in the region.
