Bhubaneswar: To promote coffee cultivation in Odisha, MJ Dinesh, Chairman of the Coffee Board, met with Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture, Farmer Empowerment, and Energy, at Lok Seva Bhawan today. The meeting focused on exploring ways to enhance coffee production and expand market access for Odisha’s growing coffee industry.
The coffee grown in Koraput district has earned widespread recognition for its high quality and distinct flavor, and it has now secured a place in the global coffee market. Expanding beyond Koraput, coffee cultivation is also flourishing in districts such as Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Keonjhar.
During the meeting, Dinesh and Singh Deo discussed initiatives to further develop the coffee industry, emphasizing the need to increase production, improve infrastructure, and establish more outlets for Odisha’s coffee products. Singh Deo expressed a strong commitment to boosting coffee production and increasing its visibility in the global market.
As a gesture of goodwill, Dinesh presented Singh Deo with a coffee packet and a book dedicated to coffee. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department, along with other prominent officials including Shivakumar Swamy, Joint Director of the Coffee Board, and Odisha Nodal Officer Upendra Kumar Shah.
