Odisha Initiates Tender Process for Puri Sri Jagannath International Airport on PPP Mode

Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, the Odisha Government, through the Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha Limited (IDCO), has floated tenders for the construction of the Puri Sri Jagannath International Airport on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis. The estimated cost for this ambitious project is Rs 2,203 crore.

As per the notification issued by IDCO, the bidding process will commence on February 21, with online submissions expected. The technical bids are scheduled to be unveiled on April 21.

The proposed airport, categorized as an international greenfield airport, is anticipated to be developed and managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The construction is slated for completion within 1,095 days.

Last year, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) granted site clearance approval for the project. This approval followed the submission of all necessary documents by the government, aligning with the Greenfield Airports (GFA) Policy of 2008.

Spanning across 1,164 acres of land, the international airport’s location includes 68 acres of forest and 221.48 acres of private land in Sipasarubali and Sandhapur under Brahmagiri tehsil, according to official sources.

This strategic initiative is expected to enhance connectivity and contribute to the overall development of the Puri region.
