Odisha Govt Unveils New Initiatives in Rs 2.65 Lakh Crore Budget for 2024-25

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has introduced a series of ambitious initiatives as part of its Rs 2.65 lakh crore budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, aimed at driving inclusive development across the state.

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, who also holds the finance portfolio, announced that the development of farmers, women, youth, and poor people has been “prioritised.” He emphasized that the government is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people and ensuring inclusive development across the state.

Majhi stated, “The objective of the BJP government is to ensure inclusive development of the state, focusing on the needs and aspirations of all its citizens.”

New Initiatives in Budget 2024-25:

  • Jagannatha Culture Promotion:
    • Rs 500 crore allocated towards a corpus fund for the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA) to promote and propagate Jagannatha culture.
  • Maa Tarini Temple Development:
    • Rs 50 crore dedicated to the peripheral development of Maa Tarini Temple at Ghatagaon.
  • Subhadra Jojana:
    • Rs 10,000 crore for the Subhadra Jojana aimed at women empowerment, financial independence, and entrepreneurship development.
  • Samrudha Krushaka Yojana:
    • Rs 5,000 crore for the purchase of paddy at Rs. 3,100 per quintal under the Samrudha Krushaka Yojana.
  • Odia Asmita Promotion:
    • Rs 200 crore allocated towards a corpus fund for the promotion and propagation of Odia Asmita.
  • Madho Singh Haath Kharch Yojana:
    • Rs 156 crore to address dropout rates among tribal students.
  • Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya:
    • Rs 50 crore for enhancing the quality of education at the primary school level.
  • Din Dayal Karmachari Niwas:
    • Rs 50 crore for the construction of workers’ hostels in industrial townships.
  • Roof Top Solar Projects:
    • Rs 100 crore allocated for state support of rooftop solar projects under the PM Surya Ghar initiative.
  • Dharmasala-cum-Guest House:
    • Rs 18 crore for the construction of a Dharmasala-cum-Guest House for the attendants of cancer patients.
  • Medical Colleges and Hospitals:
    • Rs 200 crore allocated towards a corpus fund for medical colleges and hospitals.
  • Paediatric Cancer Facilities:
    • Rs 25 crore for the establishment of paediatric cancer facilities.
  • Solar-Based Streetlights:
    • Rs 10 crore provided for solar-based streetlights at the gram panchayat level.
  • Mahanadi River Front Development:
    • Rs 50 crore allocated to develop areas alongside the Mahanadi in Sambalpur and Cuttack.
  • Heritage School Development:
    • Rs 1 crore for the upkeep of 45 schools that are over 100 years old.
  • Odisha Balabhadra Jaivik Chasa Mission:
    • Rs 1.5 crore towards promoting organic farming under the mission.
  • Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY):
    • Rs 500 crore for the implementation of AB PM-JAY.
  • Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY):
    • Rs 92 crore for the implementation of PMMVY.
  • Pradhan Mantri School for Rising India (PM SHRI):
    • Rs 25 crore for the implementation of PM SHRI.
