Odisha Govt to Partner with Ministry of Education to Implement PM SHRI Schools Scheme

Bhubaneswar: To fortify the education sector in Odisha, the state government has taken a momentous step by agreeing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to implement the PM SHRI Schools scheme. The MoU is expected to be finalized before the commencement of the academic year 2024-25.

The Ministry of Education, Government of India, affirmed this development in an official release on X, stating, “Odisha government has taken a far-reaching decision to sign an MoU with Ministry of Education, Government of India, to implement PM SHRI Scheme.”

Expressing full-fledged support for the initiative, the release emphasized the collective dedication to fortifying school education and ensuring the holistic development of students in Odisha.

Aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), the PM SHRI scheme aims to establish more than 14,500 model schools across India. These schools will be managed by various entities including the Central government, state/UT governments, local bodies, Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), and Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS).

The primary goal of the PM SHRI Schools scheme is to create an inclusive learning environment that values and supports every student. By fostering such an environment, the scheme seeks to cultivate engaged citizenship, in line with the vision outlined in the National Education Policy 2020.
