Odisha Govt Revokes COVID Containment Order

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday has decided to discontinue the orders and guidelines issued in 2020 for containment zones during the COVID pandemic.  

As per the order issued by the office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) today stated that under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Covid containment issued on March 13, 2020 will be revoked.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on March 22 has instructed that States and UTs to consider discontinuing issue of orders and guidelines under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 for Covid containment measures. It also stated that no further order would be issued in this regard.

However, whenever any surge in the number of Covid cases is observed, the Health and Family welfare Department may take prompt and proactive action as advised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from time to time, the SRC order added.

As per the data provided by the Health and Family Welfare Department data, there are 345 active Covid cases in the State as of March 31, 2022.
