Odisha Govt Approves Voluntary Retirement of Senior IPS Officer Arun Kumar Sarangi; Appoints Him as OPSC Chairman

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has approved the voluntary retirement of senior IPS officer Arun Kumar Sarangi, a 1990-batch officer and former In Charge Director General of Police (DGP). Sarangi will take up his new role as the Chairman of the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) starting Monday afternoon.

According to an official notification issued by the Home Department on Saturday, Sarangi, who was serving as the Director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy, was appointed as the Chairman of OPSC on September 27. Following his appointment, Sarangi submitted a request for voluntary retirement on September 30, asking to be relieved from service by the forenoon of October 7 to assume his new responsibilities.

The state government granted Sarangi’s request, relaxing the conditions under sub-section-2 of the All India Service Rules-1958, which allowed him to retire early and take up his new post. The notification also confirmed that Sarangi is entitled to all retirement benefits in accordance with the All India Service Rules-1958.
