Odisha Govt Approves Orange and Red as Official Colour Code for All Govt Buildings

Bhubaneswar: Mohan Charan Majhi-led BJP government in Odisha has approved a new uniform colour code for all government buildings across the state. The decision follows a recent change in the uniform design for Class IX and X students in government and government-aided schools. As per the new directive, the exterior walls of government buildings will be painted in an Orange shade, with Red used for the borders.

The Works Department, on Monday, issued a formal letter to the Engineer-in-Chief (Civil-cum-Roads), Engineer-in-Chief (DPQ), Engineer-in-Chief-cum-MD, OB&CC Ltd, and all Chief Engineers under the Works Department, communicating the government’s approval of the new colour scheme.

“I am directed to communicate the approval of the Government to adopt a uniform colour code henceforth for all new Government buildings, as well as existing Government buildings at the time of periodical repair/renovation work,” stated the letter, issued by the Engineer-in-Chief-cum-Special Secretary, Works Department.

According to the approved colour code, the exterior walls of the buildings will feature an Orange shade with the RGB mix (254, 190, 152), while the borders will be painted in a Red shade with the RGB mix (177, 85, 79).
