Odisha Govt Announces NuA-O Scholarships for Plus 2 and Plus 3 Classes

Jajpur: In a significant move, Odisha government declared that students in Plus 2 and Plus 3 classes in Odisha will be recipients of scholarships under the NuA-O scheme. The announcement came during V K Pandian, Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha, address at the N C College ground in Jajpur on Tuesday.

Under this initiative, male students will receive Rs 9,000 each, while their female counterparts will be granted Rs 10,000. Notably, students with parents who pay income tax or hold permanent government positions will not be eligible for this scholarship.

Pandian outlined that the scholarship amounts will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts between February 20 and 25. He emphasized that this scheme sets Odisha apart, as approximately 95% of students will benefit, a feat not replicated in any other state.

While acknowledging the initiative’s positive impact on students, it’s worth noting that some view it as a strategic move aimed at appealing to the youth, especially with upcoming elections in mind.
