Bhubaneswar: Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Krushna Chandra Patra held discussions with Elisabeth Faure, Representative and Country Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), on enhancing food security and nutrition initiatives in Odisha.
During the meeting, Minister Patra outlined the state government’s proactive measures to ensure food availability and improve nutrition for beneficiaries. He emphasized efforts to streamline food distribution systems and enhance accessibility for vulnerable communities.
The discussions covered expanding Jana Poshan Kendras to provide fortified grains, modernizing fair price shops, and introducing grain ATMs to simplify food distribution. Both sides explored opportunities for collaboration to further strengthen Odisha’s food security network, aiming for a more efficient and equitable system to combat malnutrition and hunger across the state.
