
Bhubaneswar: In a ceremony marking the 75th Republic Day, Odisha Governor Raghubar Das felicitated 50 individuals from the state’s police force, Fire Brigade, civil defense, home guard, and jail for their exceptional services.
The governor bestowed the Police Medal for Gallantry upon three members of the Special Operations Group (SOG) and one from the District Volunteer Force (DVF) for their successful anti-Maoist operation. The awards were presented during a grand state-level ceremony in Bhubaneswar, where Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was also in attendance.
Two individuals received the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, 11 were honored with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, 20 received the Governor’s Medal for 2023, one was awarded the Fire Service Medal for Gallantry, two received the Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service, and three were honored with the Home Guards and Civil Defence medal. Additionally, two individuals were presented with the Governor’s Medal for 2023, and five received the Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service during the function.
