Odisha gears up for fifth Subhadra instalment; verification to be completed by July 25

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has stepped up preparations for the disbursement of the fifth instalment of the Subhadra Yojana, with Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida directing district administrations to complete verification of all pending applications by July 25 to ensure timely release of financial assistance on the occasion of Rakhi Purnima.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan on Friday, Parida instructed officials to expedite the verification and disposal of applications referred for field enquiry and conduct daily reviews of the progress to avoid delays in the payment process.

The meeting reviewed preparations related to beneficiary verification, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) activation, biometric e-KYC, NPCI mapping, payment file preparation and coordination with banks. The Deputy Chief Minister stressed the need for seamless coordination among district administrations, technical agencies and banking institutions to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive the assistance without any errors.

Officials informed the meeting that 1,15,75,633 applications have been registered under the scheme so far, including 3,17,966 new applications received during the 2026-27 financial year. Following scrutiny and eligibility assessment, 1,02,04,396 women were initially shortlisted for the fifth instalment. After district-level verification confirmed the deaths of 5,277 beneficiaries, the final list of 1,01,99,119 eligible women has been prepared.

The review also assessed the overall progress of the flagship scheme. According to official figures, the government has so far transferred ₹20,648.63 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than one crore women through four instalments under the scheme. In addition, 2,68,396 grievances lodged by beneficiaries have been resolved.

Parida reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring a timely, transparent and hassle-free disbursement process and directed officials to complete all pending formalities within the stipulated timeline.

The meeting also discussed the future roadmap of the Subhadra Yojana and the status of pending applications. Women and Child Development Director Monisha Banerjee, along with senior officials of the Mission Shakti Department, Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) and other departments, attended the review meeting.
