Odisha Enhances Gratuity for Aided School and College Staff
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced a 50% increase in gratuity benefits for teachers and non-teaching staff of government-aided schools and colleges, providing a significant boost to their financial security.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi revealed the decision on Wednesday, raising the death and retirement gratuity cap from ₹5 lakh to ₹7.5 lakh.
According to an official statement, the enhancement was made in response to appeals from teachers’ unions across the state, which had been urging the government to address their long-standing demand for higher gratuity benefits.
“This measure underscores the government’s recognition of the vital role played by educators and support staff in strengthening Odisha’s education system,” the statement read.
