Odisha Deputy CM KV Singh Deo Meets Kendu Leaf Organization Members to Address Their Demands

Bhubaneswar: A productive meeting was held today between the members of the Odisha State Kendu Leaf Organisation and Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo at the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

During the meeting, the representatives from the Kendu Leaf Organisation presented their key demands and issues, with a primary focus on increasing the income of kendu leaf pluckers. This year’s favorable weather conditions have resulted in a high-quality harvest, and the organization emphasized the need for better financial compensation for the workers involved in the plucking process.

Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo assured the delegation that their concerns had been sympathetically considered. He informed them that their demands would be forwarded to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for further deliberation, and a solution would be worked out soon to address the issues raised.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Forests, Environment, and Climate Change Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrat Sahu, and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Devadatta, who all provided valuable suggestions to ensure the long-term welfare of kendu leaf pluckers and the sustainable management of the resource.
