Bhubaneswar: In anticipation of the 59th DG and IGP Conference-2024, set to take place from November 29 to December 1, the Commissionerate Police in Odisha has designated key areas in Bhubaneswar as no-flying zones to ensure heightened security for high-profile dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
The designated no-flying zones encompass significant locations such as Biju Patnaik International Airport, Lok Seva Bhawan, Raj Bhawan, State Guest House, Maitri Vihar, and the IPS Mess in the Chandrasekharpur area. This precautionary step aims to bolster the safety and security measures during the visit of these VVIPs and other distinguished attendees from across the country.
A senior police official highlighted the extensive security measures being put in place to prevent any disruptions during the three-day event. “The security measures are taken to ensure the safety and security of VVIPs and distinguished delegates across the country to prevent any untoward incidents,” the official stated. The arrangements include deployment of the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), coupled with thorough anti-sabotage checks. Enhanced patrolling, roadblocks, and increased CCTV surveillance have been implemented, along with dedicated human intelligence teams deployed citywide.
The conference will be attended by senior officials, including the DGPs of all states, the Director General of the CRPF, and chiefs from the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), National Security Guard (NSG), and the Special Protection Group (SPG), as well as senior officers of the Intelligence Bureau.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has been closely monitoring the preparations for the significant event. He recently reviewed the arrangements at the Convention Centre and the State Guest House to ensure all facilities meet the high standards required for hosting such a prominent gathering.
Majhi also inspected the security setup at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state office, where PM Modi is scheduled to engage with MLAs, MPs, and other party leaders on November 29.
