Odisha CM Urges Devotees to Celebrate Jagannath Culture on Heritage Corridor Inauguration Day

Bhubaneswar: With the inauguration of the Shree Mandir Parikrama Prakalpa (heritage corridor project) in Puri scheduled for Wednesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended warm wishes to the people of Odisha on the occasion of Makar Sankranti and called upon them to dedicate themselves to the devotion of Lord Jagannath.

In a video message on Monday, the chief minister emphasized that Lord Jagannath is the embodiment of the identity of all Odias. He stated, “All of us commence our endeavors in the name of Lord Jagannath, who symbolizes a unifying force for all religions in the world. He is the fundamental source of our tradition, culture, and consciousness. Jagannath culture forms the bedrock of our heritage.”

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to witness the inauguration of the Parikrama Prakalpa dedicated to Lord Jagannath, the chief minister highlighted the significance of the heritage corridor project in facilitating a smooth and secure ‘Parikrama’ for common people, aligning with the centuries-old religious beliefs observed by sadhus and revered personalities.

Naveen Patnaik declared the opening of the corridor as an occasion to celebrate Jagannath culture and encouraged the people to observe the day as a glittering and joyous festival akin to Diwali. He urged devotees to partake in the festivity by lighting diyas (lamps), blowing conch shells, playing cymbals, offering prayers, reciting devotional hymns, and engaging in kirtans, either at temples or in the sanctity of their homes.
